Our research seeks to understand how people take care of their health at home and create technology to health support them and their families in doing so. One of the projects we are working on is understanding how mobile apps focused on health should be designed to better meet the needs of individuals with disabilities. We have conducted several years of field work and are now in the process of making sense of the data.
If you join this project, you will be involved in helping us analyze data we have collected using interviews, focus groups, journals, and an engineering method called task analysis. This analysis involves our UVa research team and also individuals with disabilities who have participated in our research. You will also learn how to write for conferences and peer reviewed journals as we share our research findings with a broader community.
Although not necessary, any background in engineering, public health, or social science is beneficial.
1. How to work with research participants to share research findings.
2. How to analyze data obtained from multiple methods.
3. How to write scientific publications.
