Research Focus:

The principal project is writing scripts for the "Eyes on George Washington" podcast and then recording podcasts for distribution. Students will use primary material from The Papers of George Washington to highlight lesser known aspects of George Washington's life as well as other appropriate primary and secondary sources. Students also will write short biographical sketches of Association for Documentary Editing presidents for potential placement on that organization's website.

Position Description:

"Eyes on George Washington" is a podcast initiative meant to use documentary materials published in The Papers of George Washington to highlight lesser known aspects of Washington's life and suggest new perspectives. Since very few people read the thick published volumes or immerse themselves in the immense Digital Edition, these podcasts are meant to expand the audience engaging with documentary content in a way that increases popular understanding of George Washington and his achievements. The Association for Documentary Editing (ADE), founded in 1979, is the umbrella organization supporting scholars making archival materials more accessible. Completing biographical sketches of all ADE presidents for distribution on the organization's website will be an important contribution to its history and outreach.
